DOWNLOADS: Products

This page contains links to the latest versions of Freedom Scientific software for JAWS®, MAGic®, OpenBook®, WYNN®, and EyeMerge™.

If you already own the software, you can download the latest update using the links below.

If you do not own the software and want to try it out, the same download files will enable you to install and run the latest demonstration versions of the products.

Take advantage of the free software trials to see how these programs can work for you. When you are ready, you can purchase a product license to upgrade to the released version. Also, feel free to experiment using different Vocalizer™ Expressive (opens in new tab), Vocalizer Direct (opens in new tab), or RealSpeak™ Solo Direct (opens in new tab) voices to customize the software to your liking. These voices are free of charge to use with Freedom Scientific products.

Important Note: These products require that you restart your computer during the installation process. To avoid problems, always download and save the software release to your computer first instead of running the executable from the Windows Download dialog box. The following briefly describes how to download and install a software release.

  1. Select the appropriate domestic or international product download link that appears on this page.
  2. When the dialog box opens, choose Save and select a location where you can easily find the downloaded executable file.
  3. Run the executable and follow the talking installer.

How do I determine if I need the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version?

  1. Press WINDOWS Key+E to open Windows Explorer.
  2. If you are using Windows 7, you should be focused on the OS (C:) drive and can press SPACEBAR to select it, and then ENTER to display the contents on the root of the C drive. If you are in Windows 8, you will have to first pressRIGHT ARROW to navigate to the OS (C:) drive, and then proceed to press SPACEBAR and ENTER to open the root of C.
  3. Press the letter P until you reach the "Program Files" folder, and then press P once more. If you are in 32-bit Windows, there will not be a second folder called "Program Files (x86)" following the one you landed on. 4. Please select the appropriate version of JAWS depending on your system.

Note: If you are using Windows XP, only the 32-bit version of JAWS is required since 64-bit XP was not supported and is very rare.

Note: During JAWS installation, the OCR engine for Convenient OCR is automatically downloaded and installed. If you will be installing JAWS on a computer that does not have Internet access and you wish to use the Convenient OCR feature, you will also need to choose the link to download the OCR engine.
